Role: Laboratory Systems Engineer (Field Service Engineer - Electro-Mechanical)Location: Newcastle Region - Covering 3 NHS hospitals under the Gateshead Trust (Gateshead, Sunderland, and South Tynes)Hours: Full time - Field-basedPay: £200-£250 per day PAYE basic (excluding holiday pay) / £265.27-£331.59 Umbrella (including holiday pay)Contract: 12-month contract - Inside IR35

The Requirements:

Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience
Proven background in field service, diagnostic, or technical support
Thorough and current understanding of the IVD industry
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Resilient and tenacious, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
Growth mindset and familiarity with agile working techniques

The Role:

Provide frontline support across multiple analytical systems within NHS hospital laboratories
Troubleshoot and resolve technical and application issues to minimise unplanned equipment downtime
Deliver high-quality IT and applications support to end users
Conduct training sessions for laboratory staff on system use and best practices
Ensure consistent service excellence and contribute to improved patient care outcomes
