Fairfax Public Access is looking for a part-time Master Control Operator to work in the Programming Department at the station located in Fairfax, VA. We are looking for a hard-working, personable, and skilled individual who is willing to contribute to this growing community television and radio station that serves Fairfax County and the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Title: Master Control Operator
Department: Programming
Reports To: Director of Programming
FLSA Status: Non-exempt (Part-time Hourly)

Purpose:

Coordinate tape and live program distribution from FPA master control for cablecast to Cox and Verizon; serve as a key liaison for Programming Department during the evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

Precisely ingest and air all submitted program tapes, DVDs, digital files, station breaks, PSA's and bumpers for playback and distribution at the designated time as specified.
Evaluate and adjust as needed audio and video gain levels for upstream distribution.
Adhere to established procedures regarding the airing of programs; attend to the upkeep of tapes and the tape library; make back-up copy tapes/files of live programs.
Monitor all video and audio on all channels and respond to technical problems as needed.
Provide assistance when requested to radio automation software maintenance and updates; scheduling in TV automation server; database entries and updates.

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum high school diploma

Competencies:

Basic knowledge of radio and television production equipment and technical standards
Strong computer literacy; broad knowledge of proprietary software systems; proven ability to move efficiently between multiple computer platforms
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills; ability to follow instructions; meet work schedule requirements with consistent reliability
Good interpersonal skills, calm, professional disposition, and ability to make good judgments under pressure.
Fluency in Spanish or other languages a plus
