Role: Senior Buyer

Reports into: Head of Buying

Contract Type: Full Time, working 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week

Location: Hybrid, working 3 days a week in our offices based in Old Street, London

The Team

The Buying team selects products/ranges that will be profitable and align with the brands DNA. From researching new trends, comp shopping and visiting trade fairs with Design to analysing sales data, and helping trade current stock in conjunction with Merchandising.

We build and maintain relationships with suppliers in order to produce high quality product ranges in collaboration with Design, Garment Tech and Merchandising, in line with the critical path in order to deliver for on time launches.

You'll be responsible for

Developing department strategy with the Merchandiser and Heads of to maximise profit and deliver a global product range. Deliver department KPIs.
Building excellent partnerships with suppliers to deliver best in class product and competitive prices in line with Margin targets
Supporting design and fabric tech in helping source new fabrics direct with mills
Range building with Design and Merchandising ensuring creative direction, trends to deliver a commercial well balanced range that fulfils the customer requirement, maximises sales and profits across key markets
Working closely with Merch to ensure buying within category & collection framework and within OTB parameters, respectfully challenging and flexing where appropriate
Owning and managing critical path delivering the product on time, keeping Head of Buying updated
Working with design and garment tech to ensure fit sessions are in line with critical path
Staying up to date with global competitor trends and activities, reviewing product strategy in light of these insights.
Actively trade the department in season alongside Merchandising to minimise risk and exceed profit targets
Managing and mentoring Assistant Buyer and Buyers Admin supporting them in prioritising day to day as well as in their career development, teaching them best practices
Working collaboratively with the wider team through commercial and strategic decision making
Cascading the product vision/USP (collection packs) to the wider Business - marketing, etc
Extra product related projects - collection names, logo & branding, packaging, etc

You'll need to have

Buyer Level experience (with experience in Women's Activewear preferred but not essential)
Strong commercial aptitude with an awareness of current trends within the fitness and fashion industries. Understanding the Oner customer.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with ability to communicate clearly, effectively with colleagues, suppliers and wider teams at all levels
A global mindset and experience operating within an international retail context
Growth mindset
Collaborate effectively, considering all points of views and impact on all areas
Strong price negotiation skills
Passion for the Oner Active brand and a desire to be part of its ongoing growth and success
