Job Title: Embedded Test Engineer – Automotive (Contract)

Location: Gothenburg

Job Type: Contract initial 6 months (4 year project)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Embedded Test Engineer (Contract) to support our automotive embedded systems testing team. The successful candidate will contribute to the validation of critical software components, leveraging expertise in C/C++, Python, and testing within Linux-based environments. This is a hands-on role ideal for engineers with strong testing and debugging capabilities in fast-paced automotive development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute automated and manual test cases for embedded automotive software.
Write and maintain Python scripts for test automation and data processing.
Collaborate with developers to integrate test infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines.
Perform testing of embedded systems on real hardware and simulated environments (HIL).
Use Linux tools and environments for test execution, analysis, and debugging
Analyze and report test results, document defects, and assist in root cause analysis.
Work with automotive protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet for communication testing.
Support software quality assurance efforts in line with automotive safety standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.
5+ years of professional experience in embedded software testing.
Strong programming knowledge in C/C++ and scripting in Python.
Solid experience in Linux environments, including shell scripting and debugging.
Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI tools (e.g., Jenkins), and test management tools.
Hands-on experience with CAN bus and related diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer).
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to HIL systems (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector).
Familiarity with ISO 26262 and Automotive SPICE standards.
Experience with Docker, virtualization, or containerized test setups.
Background in developing or testing ECUs or other automotive control systems.
