Title: Payroll Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Wheeling, IL

Compensation: $30-35/ hour depending on relevant experience

***Processing payroll in Workday experience required!

Job Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Ensure timely and accurate entry of payroll data including new hires, terminations, bonuses, deductions, and tax withholdings
Review and verify timesheets and attendance records
Maintain and update employee payroll records in HRIS/payroll system
Calculate and process manual checks, wage garnishments, and corrections as needed
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, or deductions
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FICA, IRS guidelines)
Prepare payroll reports for finance and auditing purposes
Coordinate with HR and accounting to resolve discrepancies and improve processes

Requirements:

Proficiency in processing payroll in Workday
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of Payroll knowledge
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis.
