Payroll Specialist

Fairfax, VA

Salary Range: $30-35/hr

Key Responsibilities:

Process biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Review timesheets and hours worked, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws
Maintain payroll records, including garnishments, deductions, and tax withholdings
Reconcile payroll reports and resolve any discrepancies
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end reporting documents
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits deductions, and tax issues
Partner with HR and Accounting teams on benefit integrations, GL posting, and audits
Assist with payroll system upgrades or implementations
Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information

Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred
2+ years of payroll processing experience
Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Workday, UKG)
Knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations
