Job Title: SC Cleared Principle V&V Engineer
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Location New Malden
The V&V Principal engineer will support the planning, conduct and reporting of V&V work packages and activities in order to prove our hardware and software product compliance to their associated requirements.
The V&V Principal Engineer will work within multi-disciplined project teams under direction of the project delivery management and V&V leadership to effectively and efficiently deliver the assigned V&V activities.
The role is focussed on the Environmental and EMC qualification activities required to physically prove our designs. Where the qualification activities are not prioritised, the role will be applied to general V&V activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote best practice for V&V engineering life cycle activities in accordance with Corporate and Industry standards.
- Conduct V&V activities in compliance with approved management plans, using approved methods, competent personnel, effective delivery systems and processes
- Lead/Supervise other engineers output as required for scoped work package delivery, E&EMC qualification in particular
- Responsible for a team of multi disciplined engineers required to plan, conduct and report the necessary IVVTQ activities whose results are to be used as evidence for design qualification.
- Point of contact for all E&EMC IVVTQA needs/requests from the Project V&V Lead for technical requirements/issues/activities, including changes to current and future demand of resource.
- Plan and co-ordinate test activities to be conducted at third party UKAS accredited E&EMC test facilities.
- Ensure quality and timeliness of IVVQ management plans and other documentation such as Test Procedures, VCRI's, Test Reports etc.
Project responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and report task activities to the level of Quality expected by the V&V and Project management, including:
- Project requirements V&V input,
- Design Estimate compilation,
- Compilation, issue and review of management plans, processes and metrics,
- Project Design & Risk reviews,
- IADT activities,
- Reporting task progress to timescale and quality requirements,
- Fault/Issue investigation, review and reporting
- Implementation of Project security measures related to V&V activities
- Reporting to NG Management and Project teams
- Manage third party UKAS test facilities to successfully complete E&EMC test campaigns
General Operational Duties
- Remain compliant with all applicable Business Management/Command Media Processes and procedures
- Understand and apply all policies, processes and procedures related to compliance and governance
- Implement improvement ideas to improve department efficiency & effectiveness
- Provide support and guidance and to team members
- Facilitate activities in order to maintain the Health and Safety of staff and visitors as required
- Facilitate assigned activities in order to maintain the Corporate and contracted Security requirements for the site, media, IT etc. (List X)
Person Specification
Essential qualifications/experience
- Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent experience in integrated Systems/Software Engineering or Control Systems engineering
- Experience of planning and conduct of Verification & Validation/Systems/Software activities within a Systems Engineering life cycle, including integrated system (hardware & software) testing
- Environmental and EMC qualification experience
- Reporting test metrics, including test management tool experience
- Fault diagnostic skills including fault identification and reporting
- Technical report writing skills to produce documentation to a high standard
- Self-starter, to assign and execute a variety of project functions efficiently and professionally
- Proficient user of MS Office applications, Word, Excel etc.
- Experience in defining test requirements, procedures and test equipment
- Experience providing either task or line leadership responsibilities
- Task and technical leadership experience
Preferred qualifications/experience
- Software and hardware testing experience of complex PLC based control systems
- Test Automation experience
- V&V/Systems/Software Engineering experience within a Defence or regulated industry
- Familiar with applicable Defence Standards (eg Def Stan 59-411, ISO 15288, ISO 29119)
- Familiar with IEC 61508 or similar Functional safety standards

Other requirements
- Availability to work shift patterns if required
- Availability to work weekends if required
- Travel requirements: Occasional UK travel may be required to attend team/customer technical visits, meetings and training activities
- Clearance requirements: Post-holder must hold and maintain UK Government clearances where required
