ACE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded in 2000 in Denver, Colorado, to provide low-income children with equal access to quality K-12 private schools through partial scholarship support. Over the past 25 years, ACE has delivered more than 100,000 scholarships worth over $330million. This school year, ACE is serving approximately 14,000+ children in Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, and is actively pursuing other expansion opportunities with the support of a national funding partner. Position Overview
The Communications Manager is a key member of the centralized Marketing & Communications team and plays a critical role in shaping ACEs messaging and storytelling. Reporting to the National Director of Marketing & Communications, this role is responsible for developing and executing content strategy across internal and external channels, ensuring consistency, clarity, and inspiration in how ACE communicates with its audiences.
This is a writing-intensive role that blends editorial expertise with channel management to elevate ACEs voice, demonstrate impact, and support fundraising, advocacy, and program initiatives.
Primary Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Messaging & Content Creation
- Craft and refine ACEs messaging across donor, policymaker, family, and school audiences.
- Develop narrative frameworks, talking points, and voice guidelines aligned with ACEs brand and mission.
- Write and edit content for email campaigns, newsletters (Programs, ESA, ECCA), web pages, blog posts, donor communications including national campaigns and mailing, speeches, brochures, magazine content, and more.
- Maintaining a unified, consistent ACE voice across all channels.
- Tangible support for fundraising, legislative awareness, and program visibility.
2. Channel & Asset Management
- Manage and maintain content distribution across web (WordPress), email (e.g., Mailchimp), intranet, and digital knowledge platforms (e.g., Vimeo, ZenDesk).
- Collaborate with the Content Manager, PR Director, and Community Outreach team to source impactful stories and mission moments.
- Ensure internal communications are timely, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.
3. Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure alignment of visual and verbal brand elements.
- Partner with PR and Community Outreach to transform mission moments into high-impact written stories, speeches, and spotlights.
- Support executive communications and ghostwriting as needed for the CEO and other executive speeches.
- Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams including development, programs, and other functions.
4. Project & Performance Management
- Own the editorial calendar, manage review/approval workflows, and ensure timely publication.
- Track and report on channel performance (open rates, engagement metrics) to refine content strategy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Familiarity with SEO, digital engagement analytics, and internal communication platforms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; clear, professional written and verbal presentation
- High emotional intelligence and customer empathy, especially when working with diverse family populations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Asana, MailChimp,
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.
- 5+ years of experience in professional writing, editing, and content strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to write across tones and formats (email, web, speech, print).
- Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools, and digital asset platforms.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Passion for educational freedom, school choice, and ACEs mission.
Location, Travel, and Reporting
- This is an in-office position based in Denver, CO.
- Reports to National Marketing & Communications Director
- Currently, no direct reports.
- 0-5% travel throughout the year
FLSA Status:
Full-time, Exempt
Compensation/Benefits
Annual Salary of $75,000 - $85,000 and eligible for annual performance bonuses, plus benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:

Actual compensation offered will be finalized at offer and may be above the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location. The offer represents the components of our total rewards package.
