POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Counseling Shared Services, this position effectively captures patient liabilities while providing financial counseling to patients/guarantors, who require assistance in seeking and applying for healthcare funding (e.g., Charity Care, or other local/governmental assistance programs) and/or require assistance in reviewing and establishing payment options prior-to-service, at time-ofservice, and/or post-service. Determines the financial status of the patient during the financial counseling process and coordinates benefit authorization and management. Ensures compliance and exceptional customer service when working with patients/guarantors. Contributes to the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to drive the long-term Johns Hopkins Medicine Shared Services vision. Helps foster an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized

Hours: 40 hours/Days
Location: Onsite - 4940 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma of equivalent

Knowledge:

Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations, and application processes (e.g., Medicare, etc.), managed care contracts and coordination of benefits is required
Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology as well as an understanding of healthcare insurance is required
General knowledge of patient access financial counseling functions in acute and non-acute settings preferred
Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations desired/preferred
Basic computer knowledge
Basic math skills
Requires ability to understand, evaluate and resolve complex issues
Candidate must successfully pass the required designated language assessment prior to job offer

Certifications:

Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification within 6-12 months.

Salary Range: Minimum 18.59/hour - Maximum 30.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
