Role Title: Platform Engineer (Azure)
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Telford (2/3 Days Per Week)
Rate: £565 Per Day - Umbrella only
Active SC Clearnace is required

Role purpose / summary

You will have a good understanding of cloud and architecting for the cloud, as well as understanding how to best shape the services we are delivering, focusing on simplicity, decoupling, testing, iteration, and deployment. Actively creating Dev Ops ways of working by removing silos between traditional functional teams
Undertake cross-functional engineering projects, working in small teams with other engineers in different knowledge spheres, building supportable, sustainable, and reliable services.
Provide consultation to projects on how to configure applications to meet their requirements.
Design and Implement CI/CD Pipelines:

Develop robust and scalable CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes for applications hosted on Azure.
Utilize Azure DevOps or similar tools to orchestrate and streamline the software delivery lifecycle.
Azure Cloud Services Expertise:
Leverage Azure services including OpenAI, Azure Virtual Desktop, and AKS to architect and deploy scalable and resilient solutions.
Optimize the performance, availability, and cost-efficiency of Azure resources through proper configuration and monitoring
Containerization and Orchestration:
Manage containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or similar container orchestration platforms.
Implement best practices for containerization, deployment, and scaling of microservices-based applications.
Infrastructure Automation:
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or Ansible.
Implement and maintain configuration management solutions to ensure consistency and reliability across environments.

Good understanding of Networks
Experience of implementing and administering logging, telemetry and monitoring tools like Splunk/ELK

Soft Skills

Good communication skills both in written and verbal format with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
A good understanding of using robust Software Engineering best practices/methodologies
Ability to converse with both internal and external stakeholders, holding the appropriate level of conversation at all times.
Appetite for learning new technologies
