Job: Engine Test Engineer
Location: Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Duration: 3 months +
Hours: 6 am - 4 pm Mon to Thurs, 6 am - 12 pm Friday
Position Summary:
The role involves testing and validation of Rail Engines, Transmission, Powerpacks, and Cooler Groups. Familiarity with diesel engines, electrical, and electronic control systems is required.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Install into test cells and test production power products according to work instructions.
- Ensure products meet testing requirements.
- Accurately record data for traceability.
- Keep documentation up to date and precise.
- Assist in developing testing requirements for future products.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
- Liaise with production on technical issues.
- Collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team.
- Mentor trainees or apprentices when applicable.
- Collect failure data and provide feedback to Engineering.
- Work overtime as required.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental instructions.
- Perform other reasonable tasks within skills and abilities.
- Operate test cells that are computer-controlled, requiring basic computer skills.
Background & Experience:
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Some experience in testing or a related discipline.
- Effective communication skills at all levels.
Qualifications/Education:
- Engineering qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
- Product training will be provided through mentoring.
