On behalf of DWP we are looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer for a 6 month (Inside IR35) contract. Hybrid working with 2-3 days per week required in either Manchester, Newcastle or Blackpool.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:

. Help people to move into work and support those already in work to progress, with the aim of increasing overall workforce participation

. Help people to plan and save for later life, while providing a safety net for those who need it now

. Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society

. Improve experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.

DWP have been carrying out a large technology transition over the past few years and there is still a long way to go.

Join the Network Service Operations team as Network Infrastructure Engineer in the next step to transform the DWPs datacentre and remote site network infrastructure into leading edge technologies.

We have several projects underway in Wi-Fi, On-Prem Datacentre and Cloud solutions that require skilled, self-sufficient, and determined engineers to drive improvements and good practices, as well as ensuring current Legacy infrastructure remains stable.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:

. Provide support for incident and problem resolution, this could involve out of hours work.

. Implement BAU exercises, this could involve out of hours work.

. Conduct network monitoring and analysis tooling.

Essential:

. An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)

. Experience of and understanding of Network infra in Wifi, DC On-prem, Cloud (AWS/Azure/OCI), Next Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies as well as experience with either Aruba Wifi/Clearpass or Spine and Leaf topologies/DC-VXLAN (Preferably Arista).

. Experience with network monitoring and analysis tooling.

. Experience of problem-solving, analytical skills, with the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently to solve issues.
