Finance Analyst Peterborough, Cambridgeshire £30 per hour (Inside IR35) 3-6 months initially
My client is a leading professional services firm supporting high-profile public and private sector infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
Their Commercial Assurance team plays a vital role in helping clients make informed financial decisions by delivering robust, insightful cost and commercial assurance services.
As a Finance Analyst, you ll play a key role in providing financial insight, analysis and reporting to support major infrastructure projects.
Working closely with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you ll use your strong SAP and Excel skills to manage project finance processes, track budgets, and deliver clear, accurate reporting that supports strategic decision-making.
You ll support detailed cost reviews, monthly forecasts, and governance reporting, helping to ensure financial transparency and rigour across complex projects.
With a keen eye for detail and the ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences, you ll make a real impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This is a hybrid role based in Peterborough, with travel to client sites across the UK as required.
Key Responsibilities of the Finance Analyst:
- Use SAP to raise POs, process GRNs, maintain budgets, and support project creation and forecasting
- Collate, clean and analyse large datasets in Excel using pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions
- Produce and present finance and commercial reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Support monthly forecasting and budget reviews, providing variance analysis and recommendations
- Work collaboratively with project managers, finance, procurement, and operational teams
- Contribute to commercial reviews, process improvements, and assurance audits
- Assist in the delivery of close-out reports and recommendations to clients
- Lead and support stakeholder meetings, tailoring financial information to different audiences
- Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues where required
What We re Looking For
- Proficiency in SAP, including creating POs, GRNs, project setup, and budget maintenance
- Advanced Excel skills confident with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data consolidation
- Experience within the Water industry/sector (preferred)
- Strong stakeholder management able to build relationships and present confidently
- Experience working on infrastructure, capital projects, or within commercial finance/cost assurance functions
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues and drive improvements
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Location: Peterborough - Must be able to travel to the Peterborough office 1-2 days per week
Pay rate: £30 per hour (Inside IR35)
