Job Title: Prior Authorization Representative

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – rotating onsite/remote)

Compensation: $19 – $23 / hour (depending on experience)

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Industry: Healthcare / Ambulatory Services

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

Addison Group is partnering with a healthcare provider seeking experienced Prior Authorization Representatives to support their growing team.

Job Description:

As a Prior Authorization Representative, you will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date. This role requires strong communication skills, EPIC experience, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations and pre-certifications for services prior to patient care.
Track and monitor authorization expirations and request extensions as needed.
Maintain and close assigned work queues in a timely manner, documenting progress and outcomes.
Accurately update demographic, coverage, and eligibility information in the system.
Perform insurance verifications and determine patient eligibility, contacting patients as necessary.
Collaborate with providers, insurance carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely resolution.
Consistently meet and exceed departmental productivity and accuracy goals.

Qualifications:

2+ years of prior authorization and referrals experience, preferably in an ambulatory or specialty setting.
Strong knowledge of medical insurance processes, coverage verification, and pre-certification workflows.
Required: EPIC Experience (must be clearly indicated on resume).
Strong phone-based communication and coordination skills.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.
Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and positive references from past roles.
