Role Title: C&I Protection System Manager

Location: Derby, Manchester, Warrington

We are recruiting for the Protection System Manager - C&I to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station. The role will join a team of senior technical leads and C&I engineers and will augment technical leadership with people leadership, supply chain management and project management skills. The role covers the delivery lifecycle of Protection Systems, spanning system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification and design/selection to realise the final verified design of the power station. You will work closely with the supply chain applying a structured approach to design governance and will manage and develop a team to ensure RR SMR meets its responsibility as an intelligent customer.

Key Results & Responsibilities

Within the first 6 months you will develop a robust delivery plan for the system of interest, identify input dependencies, team activities, and supply chain design process and plans. You will develop the system requirements specification and necessary design plans, safety plans, audit plans and assessment plans in collaboration with Technical leads.

Over the next 3 years you will develop the existing team capability, including recruiting, to meet the plans, creating a collaborative high performing culture.

Deliver the system specification, system design, and all documentation as per the plan with the team resources and supply chain.

Key Selection Criteria

Nuclear Power Plant Experience or equivalent experience
Nuclear Protection System Design experience or similar high integrity C&I systems
Demonstrable knowledge of programmable reactor protection systems or similar high integrity C&I systems; knowledge of the C&I design lifecycle from requirements to commissioning
Collaborate to succeed - Experience of working with suppliers, senior technical leads and Senior Management to create a collaborative high performing environment
Regulatory Experience - Experience of the UK civil nuclear regulatory regime or similar regulated environment; understanding of ONR SAPs; appreciation of standards such as IEC 61511, IEC 61508 and IEC 61513
Project management - Ability to manage complex design and manufacture programmes with risk management and adaptability to change

Training & Qualification

Degree in engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent experience

Pay and Benefits

Salary between £57,600 - £75,600 DOE
Bonus - 12.5% target
Benefits Allowance - £2,200 per annum
Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
Holidays - 28 days + public holidays; buy/sell up to 4 days
Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover
Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
£250 one-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
