Two Circles is a global sports agency. We drive growth for sports properties by delivering deeper connections with fans, through the intelligent use of data and technology.

We work with some of the world's biggest sports organisations - including the NFL, Premier League, Formula 1, AFL, Wimbledon and UEFA - and have been named Sport Industry Agency of the Year on more than four occasions.

We are almost 1000 people, based out of 14 offices, and we deliver work for sports and entertainment businesses of all shapes and sizes all over the world.

Data is at the center of our approach - helping clients to get a better understanding of their customers and deliver insights that influence top-level decision-making. From there, we develop digital products and integrate data and technology solutions that grow audiences and revenue across ticketing, participation, sponsorship and media.

Job Description

As part of our exciting growth journey, we're expanding our Software Engineering team and are on the lookout for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us on a hybrid basis at our London office.

This is a rare chance to work on high-impact greenfield products for some of the biggest and most iconic sports brands in the world. You'll be at the forefront of building modern, scalable software from the ground up, helping shape the future of fan engagement across global sport.

In this role, you won't just write great code, you'll provide technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring bold ideas to life. Whether it's advising clients on the right technology solutions or steering innovative consulting projects, you'll have a seat at the table where strategic tech decisions are made.

You'll also play a pivotal role in shaping our evolving technology strategy, influencing the direction of our engineering culture and practices while helping us build an environment where developers thrive and create meaningful change.

Our Tech Stack

Languages: TypeScript / JavaScript, C#

Libraries and frameworks: React, Next.js, Node,js, .NET

Testing: Vitest, PlayWright, Pact, K6

Datastores: PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, Redis

Infrastructure and DevOps: GitHub Actions, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform

Monitoring: Grafana, Azure App Insights

While familiarity with our full technology stack is desirable, it is by no means required. We're looking for engineers with strong core skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Key Responsibilities

Write clean, and reusable code following best practices whilst helping to define coding standards and team conventions.

Be an advocate for developer experience and have a keen interest in continually improving it.

Encouraging a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Leading and influencing the technical design, architecture and development of digital projects.

Work closely with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads and Product Managers to understand problems and define technical scope for global sports properties.

Setting up software development frameworks for release management, automation, code quality and source control.

Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to other Two Circles engineers.

Keeping up to date on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.

Presence in our London office for 2 days a week is encouraged for this role and occasional travel to other offices in London and EMEA will be required at times.

A minimum of 5+ years experience in software engineering.

Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, or demonstrable experience in similar backend technologies with a willingness to quickly upskill. Experience with React and Next.js is a plus.

Strong understanding of database systems, including both document-oriented databases such as MongoDB and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

Experience in a CI / CD environment where you have utilised tools such as Circle CI, GitHub actions or Azure DevOps etc.

An appreciation of DevOps and platform engineering culture. You don't just write code, but you also like to build and ship it, utilising cloud platforms and services, such as Azure, AWS or GCP.

Experience in agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation via various methods such as unit, integration, contract and E2E testing.

You have a high degree of experience in observing the performance and health of applications via tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Data Dog, Sentry, etc.

You have a strong desire and are an advocate for performant applications.

Proactive in solving problems simply and effectively, with an eye for pragmatic solutions.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences to explain your solutions and collaborate effectively with others.

Experience building services for high traffic systems is desirable.
