Atlassian Engineer | Contract | Inside IR35 | Remote | 3months +) | Day rate: Market Rate (inside IR35)

I'm supporting a public sector organisation delivering a major Leavers Programme and they're looking for an experienced Atlassian Engineer to design, build and support a fully auditable, automated leaver workflow in Jira Service Management, integrated with Microsoft Entra ID Governance (Lifecycle Workflows).
This is a hands on build role working across HR, Service Desk, Desktop Support, App Support and external service providers.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and configuring a dedicated Leavers JSM project: issue types, fields, screens, workflows, SLAs, queues, permissions and notifications.
• Building workflows for multiple personas (employees, workers, service providers).
• Creating queues, SLAs, automation rules and notifications for operational teams.
• Implementing and maintaining REST API and webhook integrations between Jira and Entra ID.
• Working with Entra ID engineers to design/test payloads, callbacks and workflow updates.
• Building logic to link manually created tasks to master leaver tickets, including field sync.
• Designing and implementing reporting and KPIs: filters, saved searches, dashboards and periodic summaries.
• Creating dashboards for operational teams and management using native gadgets and approved add ons.
• Working directly with HR, IT, EA and vendor stakeholders to refine workflows and reporting.
• Producing technical documentation, runbooks, backup/restore steps and change control notes.

What you'll need

• Strong experience configuring Jira Service Management end to end.
• Ability to design modular workflows and permission models for multi team environments.
• Hands on experience with Jira REST APIs, webhooks and automation (Automation for Jira, ScriptRunner, PowerShell, etc.).
• Experience integrating Jira with identity/ITSM/HR platforms - ideally Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD.
• Ability to troubleshoot API calls, webhooks and Logic Apps integrations.
• Solid understanding of Atlassian architecture across Jira Software, JSM and Confluence.
• Experience building dashboards, KPIs and operational/management reporting.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Entra ID Governance/Lifecycle Workflows and Azure Logic Apps/Functions.
• Public sector or regulated environment experience.
• Previous involvement in joiners/movers/leavers or identity governance programmes.
