We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager with strong expertise in pensions and pension scheme close-downs. This is a key role responsible for the financial management, governance, and successful delivery of pension scheme wind-ups and related activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the financial aspects of pension schemes, including defined benefit and/or defined contribution arrangements
- Oversee and deliver pension scheme close-downs, wind-ups, and bulk transfers
- Manage pension accounting, funding, and reconciliation activities
- Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures, and regulatory returns related to pensions
- Act as a key point of contact for trustees, actuaries, administrators, auditors, and regulators
- Ensure compliance with relevant pensions legislation, accounting standards, and governance requirements
- Identify and manage financial risks associated with pension liabilities
- Support strategic decision-making through robust financial analysis and reporting
- Contribute to continuous improvement of pension finance processes and controls
Experience and knowledge required:
- Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in pensions finance, including hands-on involvement in pension scheme close-downs/wind-ups, LGPS experience is essential
- Strong understanding of pension legislation, funding, and accounting requirements
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
