Interim Finance Specialist - IFRS 16

We are seeking an Interim Finance Specialist with expertise in IFRS 16 and Statement of Accounts for a 14-week contract. The role is primarily remote, requiring occasional on-site attendance. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly within local authority finance.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Primary Focus:
- Review and interpret lease agreements in accordance with IFRS 16.
- Lead or support the mechanical assessment and modelling of leases.
- Review and validate the existing lease register, identifying any issues and gaps.
- Ensure leases, including PFIs, are correctly treated and reflected in the Statement of Accounts.
- Alternative Focus:
- Produce and support the preparation and production of the Statement of Accounts.
- Collaborate with the existing team to assist in closing the accounts.
- Address technical accounting queries that arise during the audit review.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven local authority finance experience, specifically within a large council.
- Strong experience in IFRS 16 lease accounting and/or Statement of Accounts production.
- Excellent technical accounting knowledge with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in reviewing, interpreting, and modelling lease data.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Chartered Accountant qualification is essential.
- Full membership of either CCAB or CIMA is essential.
