We're looking for a Fixed Asset Accountant for our public sector client based in Chelmsford on an initial 3-month contract paying up to £550 per day Inside IR35 (Umbrella).
This role allows hybrid working with an expectation to attend the office 1 day per week.
The successful Fixed Asset Accountant will possess proven skills working with the following -
- Maintaining and managing a Fixed Asset Register including valuation, depreciation, additions and disposals
- Preparing capital accounting entries and supporting year-end statutory accounts
- Reconciling Fixed Asset Registers to the general ledger and resolving discrepancies
- Strong knowledge of CIPFA Code of Practice and local government capital accounting
- Preparing audit-ready working papers, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Reviewing and challenging external asset valuations for year-end reporting
- Experience producing capital accounting disclosures and documentation
- Knowledge of IFRS 16 lease accounting and related journal entries
- Providing technical accounting advice to finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems and asset registers
Experience required
- CCAB qualified accountant
- Strong local government capital accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of CIPFA Accounting Code and statutory reporting
- Experience working with property valuers and asset valuations
- Experience preparing statutory accounts capital sections
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills across finance and operational teams
