Position Title: Manager, Fuel Market Analysis and Projects 

Position Summary:

The Manager, Fuel Market Analysis and Projects will lead a team responsible for JetBlue’s fuel market analysis and financial support, including forecasting, fuel expense reporting, and budget and business case support; fuel system technology investments and deployment, including continued efforts to automate processes and leverage data for analysis; and project implementation, with focus on technology implementation to support fuel transactions, accounting, and data analysis. Responsibilities include managing a team of analysts to support critical cross-functional project efforts in support of JetBlue’s JetForward strategic vision.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage work to support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial fuel deliverables, including support for forecasting, market commentary, budget and accounting needs, Board of Director/Earnings/other senior leadership forum materials, and business case submissions
  • Execute fuel gallon reconciliation program, inclusive of weekly reporting and accounting support needs and leading fuel digital reconciliation efforts
  • Oversee implementation of fuel technology projects with cross-functional stakeholder teams, including project management, business requirement gathering, platform testing/trouble-shooting, development of policies and procedures, change management, and long-term platform business support
  • Responsible for curating strategic Business Partner relationships across project workstreams, including facilitation of quarterly business reviews and development/communication of relevant KPIs for performance
  • Lead technology discovery work to determine novel opportunities for fuel process and analytics use cases and further optimization; spearhead development of new functionality with internal IT and external Business Partner stakeholders
  • Explore, analyze and execute technology, analytics, and project-based cost savings opportunities
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships at various levels of an organization in order to drive successful results
  • Ensure internal audit, contract service level agreement, covenant and Dodd Frank compliance
  • Deliver daily, monthly and quarterly reporting to various levels of management including the Board of Directors and Executive team
  • Perform technical and fundamental analysis and reporting on macro and micro global trends/events impacting jet fuel prices, supply and hedging strategies
  • Build, monitor and report on the company wide fuel budget and forecast
  • Contribute to development of robust standard operating procedure documentation, process improvement opportunities and business continuity mitigation strategy
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
  • Manage ad-hoc project requests and other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with the combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of Aviation Fuel or Finance related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proficient in Snowflake and Tableau
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including interactions with executive leadership
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration)
  • Working knowledge of fuel transportation & logistics
  • Extensive knowledge of market trends, key players in the market and regulatory issues
  • Knowledge of coding language and AI
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Marketview, and Fuel Management System (e.g. FuelPlus, QT, i6)

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program [ASAP] or Safety Action Report [SAR])
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more
