SC Cleared Network Engineer

Role Title: Network Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 4BN - full onsite
Duration: 3 months, with possible extension
Expenses: Payable in line with client policy
Engagement: PAYE through umbrella only

Clearance Requirements

Contractor must be MOD SC cleared and a sole UK national.

The candidate must:

• Have MOD SC clearance that has been actively used within the last 12 months
• Have at least 3 months remaining on their SC clearance to allow time for interview, offer and clearance transfer
• Not have spent more than 28 consecutive days outside the UK within the last 5 years

Role Description

You will work on a client site in collaboration with Capgemini and client Project Managers, SMEs and Architects to deliver projects on time and above customer expectations.

You will also work closely with support teams and other functions to ensure seamless integration of project work into the Run service.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake equipment installation and configuration activities for complex or high business-impact solutions
• Perform wired and wireless infrastructure surveys
• Support office moves, adds and changes
• Carry out technical refreshes of network hardware and cabling
• Configure core infrastructure components, including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, load balancers and voice systems
• Perform impact assessments on large or complex networks
• Perform testing against pre-determined plans and analyse results

Required Experience

• At least 5 years' experience in Network Engineering roles
• Demonstrable experience configuring network systems, including switching, routing, Firewalling, load balancing and voice
• Cisco CCNA-level qualification or vendor-equivalent accreditation
• Knowledge of network security, VPNs, converged networks and broadband technologies
• Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot LAN, WAN and voice network infrastructures for enterprise organisations
• Understanding of racking, cabling and containment systems and standards
• Subject Matter Expert experience in one or more areas would be advantageous
• Strong behavioural competencies around change, urgency and versatility
• Awareness of company values and ability to demonstrate adherence to them

Special Requirements

• Required to work 5 days per week on site in Barrow-in-Furness
• Must be a sole UK national
• Must not have left the UK for more than 28 consecutive days within the last 5 years
