Windows Engineer

Windows Engineer Contract - Hybrid (2 days onsite in Leeds).
This is an initial 3 month contract, paying £500 per day, inside IR35, 2 days a week onsite in central Leeds.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Windows Server environments from 2012 to 2025
• Build, configure and maintain VMware and VCF based infrastructure
• Administer Azure services with a focus on identity, compute and automation
• Use PowerShell to automate routine tasks, create scripts, and improve operational efficiency
• Oversee patching cycles, WSUS administration and vulnerability remediation
• Create and manage Group Policies
• Complete new server builds including configuration, testing and documentation
• Implement Windows hardening standards to strengthen security posture
• Maintain clear technical documentation for builds, processes and operational tasks
• Support configuration management using Chef or Ansible where required

About You

• Strong background in Windows Server engineering
• Experience working in large or complex server environments
• Confident with VMware, VCF and Azure services
• Skilled in PowerShell scripting and automation
• Good understanding of patching, WSUS, compliance and security standards
• Able to create and manage GPOs and follow structured build processes
• Comfortable working with infrastructure hardening and best practice frameworks
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical domains
