Job Title: Local Taxation Officer Ref: JD 000A 3984 / 1 Pay rate: £19.16 per hour PAYE Working Arrangement: Hybrid - remote with some attendance at Oxford Town Hall

Role

Our client is seeking a Local Taxation Officer to join a busy Financial Services team. This hybrid role involves administering Council Tax and Business Rates accounts, responding to enquiries, and ensuring accurate billing and collection in line with legislation. You'll play a key role in supporting residents and businesses, identifying applicable discounts and reliefs, and maintaining up-to-date records to meet income targets.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update Council Tax and Business Rates records
Handle customer queries via phone, email, and in person
Apply discounts, exemptions, and reliefs correctly
Cross-check data across systems to ensure accuracy
Support recovery processes and assist with reporting

Qualifications

Experience in finance, tax, or debt recovery
Knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates processes
Proficiency in MS 365 and database systems
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to interpret regulations and work independently

Role length: 3 months
Job type: Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday
