Addison Group is hiring on behalf of our client, a respected healthcare organization specializing in primary and urgent care services. This position is part of a short-term project aimed at reducing a high-volume collections backlog.
Job Description:
This is a contract role for a detail-oriented Patient Account Specialist with professional billing (profee) collections experience. The role focuses on insurance follow-up, denial management, and claims resolution across multiple providers and locations. Ideal for candidates who can work independently, meet productivity expectations, and bring a solid understanding of payer processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and initiate collections efforts
- Handle written and verbal insurance appeals and denials
- Analyze EOBs to determine proper action and next steps
- Process and resolve accounts efficiently and accurately
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet daily productivity goals (approx. 35 accounts/day)
- Document activity and ensure compliance with payer and organizational standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in professional billing (profee) collections
- Familiarity with payer types: PPO, HMO, Medicare, and Medi-Cal
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret EOBs
- Experience with denials and appeals (both verbal and written)
- EMR experience required (Cerner or Soarian preferred)
- OB/maternity billing experience is a plus, but not required
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and reliability are essential
Additional Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (flexible hours possible after onboarding)
- Location: On-site at a business office in Pomona, CA
- Contract length: 3–5 months, with potential extension
- Requirements: Background check, drug screening, and TB documentation
