Job Description:
This is a 3-month contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role. The selected candidates will play a key role in daily payment posting, supporting both hospital-based (HB) and professional billing (PB) accounts, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of payments across multiple work queues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately post a high volume of healthcare payments daily (average 200/day; peak volumes up to 650)
- Navigate and work multiple different billing queues
- Alternate weekly between professional billing (PB) and hospital billing (HB) tasks
- Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to ensure correct payment application
- Work with a small percentage (approx. 8%) of paper-based EOBs
- Collaborate with billing and revenue teams to resolve discrepancies
- Actively contribute to process improvements and ask for additional work when appropriate
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in healthcare payment posting
- Familiarity with both hospital and professional billing workflows
- Strong understanding of reading and interpreting EOBs
- Preferred: Experience with Epic EMR or other major EMR platforms
- Self-starter attitude with a proactive approach to responsibilities
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, accuracy-driven environment
