Key Responsibilities
- Support underwriting of commercial real estate loans including acquisition, refinance, and construction projects
- Analyze borrower financial statements, rent rolls, operating statements, and third-party reports
- Perform property-level cash flow analysis and debt service coverage calculations
- Assist in the preparation of credit memos and deal summaries for investment committee or credit review
- Conduct market research and assess property values, cap rates, and comparable transactions
- Coordinate with originators, legal, and asset management teams throughout the transaction process
- Ensure underwriting files are complete, compliant, and properly documented
- Identify potential risks and recommend deal structures or mitigants
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in commercial real estate underwriting or lending
- Solid understanding of commercial real estate asset types (e.g., multifamily, office, industrial, retail)
- Proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling and underwriting templates
- Familiarity with key real estate metrics (LTV, DSCR, NOI, IRR, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or a related field
