Senior Data Engineer – Freelance – Switzerland

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Availability: Full-time

Start Date: July 2025

Contract Duration: 12 months

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support a major transformation project. This hands-on role focuses on delivering production-ready data pipelines using PySpark on Databricks, built to scale and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain data pipelines using PySpark on Databricks
Ensure performance and scalability (billions of records, hundreds of attributes)
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and architects to meet technical goals
Balance fast delivery with code maintainability and low technical debt

Skills & Experience:

Strong PySpark experience (Python alone not sufficient)
Proven experience with Delta Lake and Databricks
Solid understanding of Azure fundamentals
5+ years in software/data engineering
Strong SQL and Python development skills
Experience working in agile teams and large codebases
Fluent in English
