IT/IS Operational Support – Contract – Sunderland – Shift-based
We are looking for an IT/IS Operational Support Engineer to work for our client who is a global leader in advanced manufacturing. This role will support a wide range of critical and real-time systems used in operational and production environments. You’ll be a vital part of the Service Delivery team, helping to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption to business users.
The Role:
Working a rotational shift pattern (Days, Lates, Nights), you will provide 1st and 2nd line support for shop floor applications and infrastructure, including incident response and system maintenance across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities:

Act as the first and second point of contact for support of shop floor applications and infrastructure.

Coordinate with local business teams to manage application upgrades and fixes.

Provide support for bespoke .NET applications (VB/C#), web, and Java-based applications.

Diagnose SQL database connectivity issues.

Support SAN/NAS storage solutions and server virtualisation technologies (VMWare/VSphere).

Maintain Windows Update Services (WSUS).

Manage antivirus infrastructure (client/server).

Handle on-site server and client backup solutions.
Shift Pattern:

Days: 06:30 – 15:00

Lates: 15:00 – 23:00

Nights: 23:00 – 06:30
Key Skills Required:

Experience with 1st/2nd line IT support

Exposure to virtualisation and storage technologies

Knowledge of WSUS, antivirus infrastructure, and backup systems

Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
