Position Overview:
We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on UX Researcher to lead research efforts for a next-generation mobile and wearable experience. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping intuitive, human-centered digital experiences for a high-impact consumer product used by real-world athletes and active users.
This is a long-term contract opportunity embedded within an Advanced Product Ventures team where innovation meets performance. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, excels at storytelling with insights, and brings deep user empathy to every design conversation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end UX research studies to guide the development of mobile and watch applications
- Apply diverse qualitative and quantitative methods: interviews, diary studies, user testing, surveys, and field research
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to prototype and validate new feature ideas
- Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights that influence roadmap and strategy
- Define project scope, timelines, and ensure research goals are met effectively
- Leverage and build on existing UX programs to reduce duplication and accelerate learning
- Represent the voice of the user across cross-functional teams
- Champion inclusive design and accessibility (WCAG 2.1) throughout the product lifecycle
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HCI, Design Research, Psychology, or related discipline
- 5+ years of hands-on UX research experience in a product development setting
- Experience designing research for mobile apps, wearables, or connected consumer tech
- Proven ability to scope research projects, run field studies, and synthesize insights
- Expertise in human-centered design principles and tools
- Familiarity with tools like Figma, Dscout, UserTesting.com, and survey platforms
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to influence product and executive stakeholders
- Comfort with ambiguity and iterative environments; strong planning and facilitation skills
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with inclusive design best practices and regulatory accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1)
- Familiarity with athlete-driven or performance-oriented product experiences
- Background working within innovation labs or R&D organizations
