On behalf of National Savings & Investments, we are looking for an Integration Lead (Inside IR35) for a 12 Month Hybrid contract based 2 days per week in London.

This role is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard and financial credit checks.

NS&I is currently looking for an Integration Lead to join the IT Solutions Delivery Team and augment the Technical Integration delivery capability. This role will play a critical role in realising the business and IT needs by overseeing the technical integration aspects of project and by providing guidance and direction to integration developers, system analysts, and other API specialists. This role will closely work with technical integration stakeholders to understand integration specifications to ensure chosen solutions align with DDaT principles, government security standards, and integration best practices.

The role will report into the Head of IT Solutions and you will work closely with the Transformation Programmes and BAU Portfolio, contributing directly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the enterprise.

. Lead the technical integration vision and execution of complex IT solutions, ensuring they align with our business goals and technological integration roadmap.
. Collaborative mind-set to work with various stakeholders within NS&I as well as with stakeholders in a multi-supplier environment.

Key Responsibilities
. Lead the design and implementation of scalable integration solutions across enterprise systems.
. Define and enforce API design standards (RESTful APIs, OpenAPI) and integration best practices.
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map data flows and ensure accurate data transformation.
. Evaluate and implement integration tools (API gateways, message brokers, ETL platforms).
. Ensure secure data exchange through robust authentication, encryption, and access control mechanisms.
. Oversee integration testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
. Maintain documentation for integration architecture, data mappings, and API specifications.
. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers and integration specialists.
. Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues with a focus on root cause analysis.
. Continuously assess and improve integration performance, scalability, and reliability.

Essential skills
. In-depth knowledge of API design principles including RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, and JSON/XML schemas.
. Strong understanding of data mapping techniques and transformation logic.
. Hands-on experience with integration technologies such as MuleSoft, Apache Kafka, Azure Logic Apps, or similar.
. Familiarity with API gateways (eg, Apigee, AWS API Gateway) and message brokers (eg, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
. Solid grasp of data security principles including OAuth2, TLS, and secure coding practices.
. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and Scripting for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
. Understanding of SDLC methodologies including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
. Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide technical teams and foster growth.
