Pay Rate: $32-$35 per hour
Shift/Hours:
Sunday-Wednesday, 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Candidate must be open to earlier shifts if required
Overtime possible after 3 months
Job Summary:
The Data Center Technician utilizes advanced mechanical and electrical skills to perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs in a mission-critical data center environment. This role involves oversight of electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS systems, generators, chillers, HVAC systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS). The technician will ensure all facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and equipment.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective repairs in accordance with procedures.
Ensure compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and PPE requirements.
Oversee third-party vendors, ensuring adherence to safety, documentation, and regulatory standards.
Assist in developing SOPs, Job Hazard Analyses, and risk assessments for critical work.
Maintain and update CERM documentation, logbooks, and maintenance records.
Accompany vendors on-site during inspections or repairs as needed.
Participate in training and certification programs to maintain technical competency.
Required Experience:
2-4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical trades (HVAC, plumbing, or electrical).
Strong background in HVAC or electrical systems maintenance and repair.
Familiarity with emergency response and standby protocols.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Experience in data center, critical facilities, or commercial building operations.
Prior exposure to financial environments or work order systems.
Vendor management and facility coordination experience.
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with HVAC and electrical distribution systems.
Proficiency in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills:
EPA 608 Universal Certification (preferred).
Familiarity with BMS/CMMS systems and facility reporting.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and SOPs.
Additional Skills from Original Description:
Microsoft Excel and reporting familiarity.
Understanding of billing/payables and financial system data entry.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. or more.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and stooping required.
Conversion Potential:
Role may convert to Direct Hire after 6 months, based on performance and business needs.
