\n\n We are currently looking for a Contracts Supervisor to join our Wales & Southwest team.
\n\n The role will be responsible for the supervision of vegetation, civil, service and other operational contracts operating in the regions; ensuring the works delivered are safe, on time, to specification and to the required quality standards. Developing an ongoing practical relationship with the contractors delivery teams but representing the Trust’s interests via robust contract supervision, audit and administration is a fundamental requirement of the role.
\n\n The role will be responsible for supporting the regional teams with site set up and supervision, ensuring compliance with CDM, temporary works supervision and health and safety requirements, helping to deliver work programmes in area teams.
\n\n The Contracts & Compliance Supervisor will be a volunteer task manager and will be responsible for supporting a wider team of volunteers to help deliver this remit.
\n\n Location & coverage
\n\n Offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings. Significant travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits and to conduct improvements. Locations include; Gloucester .

\n\n About the role
\n\n Key accountabilities:
\n\n \n\t Responsible for the scoping and briefing of specifications of contract works, including vegetation management, high risk trees, winter clearance programmes, aquatic weed control, control of invasive species, refuse and fly tipping and other specialist contractors, as necessary.
\n\t Supervise, inspect and audit on site contractor delivered works, highlighting areas of under performance to the Contracts & Compliance Manager in a timely manner and ensuring corrective measures are implemented on site to bring performance back in-line.
\n\t Administer contract-related documents and correspondence, providing information for performance reports as required.
\n\t Support the regional team’s site set up and on site compliance with mandatory standards such as CDM, LOLER, welfare and Temporary Works; ordering materials and equipment as required in support of these works.
\n\t Act as Temporary Works Supervisor when required.
\n\t Supervise the delivery of Corporate delivered/funded projects within the region.
\n\t Task manage and support volunteers to help us as a charity, ensure that volunteers have the necessary training, skills and competencies to carry out the role of auditor or other appropriate task.
\n\t Provide prompt response to customer enquiries and complaints communicating with the customer service team as necessary.
\n\t Provide other operational support to the regional teams, as necessary, to ensure consistency between teams, such as training, equipment needs and compliance with Trust and external processes and requirements.
\n \n\n About you
\n\n Qualifications:
\n\n \n\t Recognised qualification – e.g. NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds or Completed Apprenticeship in relevant field. Maths and English GCSE.
\n\t Temporary Works Supervisor Training for construction activities (or willingness to work towards).
\n\t Attainment of a recognised safety qualification (or willingness to work towards) or proven safety related experience.
\n\t Valid UK driving licence - Car Cash allowance & regional/national travel, including to remote locations is expected.
\n \n\n Experience:
\n\n \n\t Previous Project Management experience of successfully managing multiple low/medium complexity projects.
\n\t Demonstrable contract management experience and relationship management.
\n\t Demonstrable experience of successfully supervising projects or programmes of work Managing activity plan, interpretation and other consultants.
\n\t Knowledge of project management processes and systems.
\n\t Experience of finance control of project delivery.
\n\t Experience of leading volunteers - desirable.
\n\t Relevant heritage and environmental awareness.
\n \n\n General skills:
\n\n \n\t Possess good communication skills both verbal and written. Be able to manage stakeholders, taking account influence and impact.
\n\t Ability to prepare and maintain schedules for activities and events for projects, taking account of dependencies and resource requirements.
\n\t Develop and agree budgets for projects and control forecast and actual costs against budget.
\n\t Be good at problem solving and be able to resolve conflicts.
\n\t Open, positive, can-do attitude which builds confidence and credibility both within the team and stakeholders.
\n\t Possess good IT skills. Use of MS project would be an advantage.
