Role Overview

  • Position: Accounts Associate (AAT Qualified)
  • Location: Chester city centre office (please note, there is no on-site parking available)
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid available after successful completion of a 3-month probation period (4 days in the office, 1 day from home)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours per day)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Salary: £26,700 - £33,900 depending on experience

About the Role

Our client, a well-established and growing professional services firm, is looking to recruit an AAT-qualified Accounts Associate to join their Chester-based team.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll work closely with senior team members while managing your own portfolio of clients. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, taking ownership of their work, and developing their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

You'll be based in a modern city centre office, with hybrid working available once you've completed your probation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting senior team members in delivering a high-quality service to clients
  • Preparing bookkeeping records and VAT returns
  • Producing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns
  • Supporting personal tax matters where required
  • Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, IRIS and QuickBooks
  • Managing your workload to meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of work
  • Responding to client queries in a timely and professional manner

What We're Looking For

  • AAT qualified with at least 3 years' experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong practical experience in bookkeeping and accounts preparation
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with both financial and non-financial clients
  • Good working knowledge of Sage, Xero, IRIS and Microsoft Office
  • A team player who can also work independently when required
  • Comfortable offering guidance and recommendations to clients
  • Full UK driving licence
