AI & Development Architect (Contract)

Location: Dublin (1-2 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6 months initial contract with strong extension potential

Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI & Development Architect to lead the design and delivery of a digital system that will replace a manual, paper-based process for managing training and education sponsorships. This is a key transformation initiative aimed at improving accuracy, governance, and visibility across the organisation.

You will play a critical role in architecting a scalable, end-to-end solution covering frontend, backend, and data layers, while also contributing to project coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end system architecture across frontend, backend, and database layers
• Provide technical leadership across the full stack, with a strong focus on backend development using Django and relational databases (SQL Server)
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
• Lead the digitisation of a manual sponsorship process into a robust workflow-based system
• Ensure consistent and automated application of sponsorship rules across all users and units
• Design solutions that provide real-time visibility into user obligations and organisational financial liabilities
• Implement a full audit trail capability to support governance, compliance, and reporting
• Define and enforce best practices for source control, Git workflows, and branch management
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, developers, and project managers
• Support project coordination activities, ensuring delivery timelines and quality standards are met
• Contribute to data architecture strategy, ensuring a strong foundation for future data warehousing initiatives

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect / Technical Architect in full-stack environments
• Strong expertise across:
• Frontend architecture (framework-agnostic, but modern JS frameworks preferred)
• Backend development with Django (Python)
• Database design and optimisation using SQL Server
• Experience designing workflow-based or rules-driven systems
• Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and scalable architecture patterns
• Demonstrated experience with Git, repository management, and branching strategies
• Solid project coordination or delivery experience (Agile or hybrid environments)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to AI-driven or automation-led solutions
• Experience digitising manual or paper-based processes
• Knowledge of financial tracking, liabilities, or compliance/governance systems
• Experience building systems with strong audit and reporting capabilities
• Exposure to data warehousing or data lake architecture

The current process for managing training sponsorships is manual and paper-based, leading to:

Calculation errors

Inconsistent rule application

Lack of visibility into request status

No centralised tracking of financial liabilities

The new system will deliver:

Automated and consistent application of sponsorship rules

Real-time tracking of individual obligations and overall financial exposure
