Application Packager

Application Packager 2-month contract Outside of IR35 London/Remote

My Customer is currently looking for an experienced Application Packager to support a Windows OS migration across Point of Sale (POS) devices used within restaurant environments. This role will play a key part in ensuring that applications are successfully prepared, tested and deployed as part of a large-scale rollout.

The focus of the role will be to simplify and streamline the current rollout process used by Field Engineers, reducing the length and complexity of the existing documentation to help avoid issues during the update and migration of applications on POS devices.

Key Skills & Experience from the Application Packager:

• Strong experience in manual application packaging within Windows environments.
• Experience supporting Windows OS migrations or large-scale application deployment programmes.
• Excellent knowledge of Command Line, Batch scripting, and Command Logic.
• Ability to reverse engineer applications to understand installation processes, scripts, registry changes, and dependencies.
• Experience analysing registry changes, file system modifications, and installation behaviours.
• Familiarity with POS or retail device environments would be beneficial.
• Experience packaging applications in a Citrix environment would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities of the Application Packager:

• Package and prepare applications for deployment as part of a Windows OS migration programme across POS devices.
• Review and reduce the complexity of the current rollout documentation used by Field Engineers during deployments.
• Reverse engineer existing applications to understand their behaviour from a script, registry, and configuration perspective.
• Analyse current install processes and rebuild them into simpler, more reliable deployment packages.
• Work closely with engineering and deployment teams to ensure packaging supports a smooth and repeatable rollout process.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for packaged applications and deployment procedures.
