Application Security Architect

Location: Bristol (Hybrid - 1 day per week in-office)
Duration: 14 months + (Starting April 2026)
Clearance Required: Active SC Clearance (Mandatory)
Rate: Circa £200 to 210 paye, £500 to 550 umbrella

Are you an expert in securing complex cloud environments?

Our client is looking for a seasoned Application Security Architect to lead the design and implementation of a robust security framework for a critical, large-scale digital transformation project.

As the lead architect for one of the projects, you will be the driving force behind our cloud security strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Define and document the cloud security framework, ensuring alignment with performance goals and stringent government security standards.
• Strategic Oversight: Lead the transition from initial implementation to cloud security-managed operations.
• Expert Collaboration: Act as a central SME across multiple teams, solving cross-functional security challenges and guiding key technical decisions.
• Vulnerability Management: Conduct rigorous assessments to identify and mitigate risks before they can be exploited.
• Mentorship: Lead training sessions to elevate cloud security best practices across the engineering and operations teams.

Our client is looking for a heavy-hitter in the security space who thrives in highly regulated environments.

Required Experience:

• Advanced Cloud Security Architecture: Proven track record of designing secure cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Technical Environment: Experience or familiarity with SAP Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Management is highly desirable.
• Strategic Planning: Proficiency in Cloud Security Planning, Assessment, and Infrastructure Security.
• Quality Assurance: Ability to oversee Security QA to ensure all deployments meet rigorous "Secure by Design" principles.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Active SC Clearance: Due to the nature of the project, you must hold current SC clearance.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to engage with stakeholders and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
