Audio Systems Engineer
RightStoneOur client is seeking a seasoned Audio Systems Engineer (DSP) for a 6-month contract (potential temp-to-perm) role based in Framingham, MA 01701, offering a pay rate of $80/hour. This position will support the integration, deployment, and validation of advanced playback audio processing technologies on mobile handset platforms. The role focuses on implementing and refining DSP algorithms in real-time audio environments and embedded RTOS architectures, while collaborating closely with DSP developers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Implement, integrate, and validate DSP algorithms for playback audio processing on ARM-based mobile and embedded platforms
- Work within real-time audio frameworks and RTOS environments to ensure reliable, low-latency performance
- Collaborate with DSP architects to optimize audio processing modules for mobile constraints (power, memory, concurrency)
- Develop robust and portable DSP components, SDK modules, and integration workflows for multiple handset vendors
- Conduct system-level profiling, benchmarking, and validation across hardware and test environments
- Troubleshoot real-time performance issues and support continuous improvements in audio processing systems
- 5+ years of experience in DSP, embedded audio systems, or real-time software development
- Strong proficiency in C/C++
- Experience with digital signal processing in real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Hands-on experience integrating DSP technologies into audio products
- Experience working on ARM-based platforms
- Familiarity with Android development environments
- Proven track record of delivering features to market and collaborating with engineering teams on troubleshooting and optimization
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-15 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of real-time audio signal chains on mobile devices or embedded audio SoCs
- Experience with DSP frameworks, vendor SDKs, or proprietary audio toolchains
- Familiarity with multi-threaded audio processing and low-latency pipelines
- Experience with performance tuning or optimization on ARM, Tensilica, or Qualcomm DSPs
