Automation Engineer
Location: Broughton, North Wales (On-site)
Hours: 35 hours per week, working 4.5 days between 7am and 7pm (hours agreed according to business requirements)
Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
Rate: £37.00 per hour Umbrella / £27.66 per hour PAYE

Guidant Global is partnering with Airbus to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer to join the Manufacturing Technologies Team at Airbus Broughton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development, deployment and support of advanced automation technologies used in the assembly of aircraft wing structures and sub-assemblies.
You'll work with cutting-edge manufacturing equipment, including industrial robots, CNC milling machines, large-scale automated machinery and collaborative robots (cobots), helping to drive innovation and continuous improvement across one of the world's leading aerospace manufacturers.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting and advancing automated manufacturing solutions across a variety of aircraft assembly processes, including drilling, fastening, routing and milling.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and specifying new automated machinery and equipment.
  • Developing and implementing innovative automated assembly processes.
  • Managing projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Providing technical support and expert advice on existing automation systems and tooling.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver operational excellence.

What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates with a strong automation and engineering background who enjoy solving complex manufacturing challenges and driving innovation. Experience is valued highly, and equivalent practical experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree-level qualification in Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience within automation and/or robotics environments.
  • Strong project management capability.
  • Excellent digital, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as Minitab, Skywise or similar.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and processes.

Desirable

  • Aviation or aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of production processes used in Broughton.
  • Understanding of REACH legislation.
