The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Platform, Cloud or Security Architect to support the design of a strategic Unified Data Platform for a major UK public sector organisation.
This is a high-profile architecture engagement that will help shape the future data capabilities of a nationally significant programme.
Working alongside senior architecture consultants and client stakeholders, you'll play a key role in refining the target architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, governance, operational and non-functional requirements, whilst supporting the organisation through internal architecture review and approval processes.
This engagement offers the opportunity to influence the design of a modern cloud-native data platform built around AWS, Databricks and Enterprise Data Governance principles.

Role and Responsibilities:
You will refine and develop the target architecture for a new Unified Data Platform., ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, governance frameworks and operational requirements.
Producing high-quality architecture documentation, technical designs and supporting artefacts and design scalable ingestion patterns supporting databases, APIs and file-based integrations.
You be involved with defining Data Lake and Lakehouse architecture using Amazon S3, supporting Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers, as well as design transformation, orchestration and processing patterns using Databricks and supporting AWS services.
Developing secure and scalable data consumption patterns supporting reporting, analytics, operational applications and APIs, you will be helping to define architecture for governance, security, observability, resilience and operational support, as well as supporting technical governance, architecture review boards and design assurance activities.
The role will see you collaborating closely with enterprise architects, security specialists, engineering teams and business stakeholders to ensure the proposed architecture aligns with strategic objectives.
NB: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic level of security clearance before undertaking the assignment (around one weeks lead-time).
