Business Analyst - Surveillance Compliance Programme

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Business Analyst for a 5 Month contract based in London. (Hybrid Working)

Purpose of the Role:

An experienced Business Analyst supporting a multi-million-pound Surveillance Compliance Remediation Programme within Financial Services. Responsible for driving business analysis across regulatory and technology workstreams to strengthen surveillance capabilities, enhance control effectiveness, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations relating to market conduct and financial crime.

As a Business Analyst you will be responsible for:

• Lead business analysis activities across multiple surveillance remediation workstreams within a large-scale regulatory programme.
• Elicit, analyse, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements across business and technology teams.
• Support workstreams covering Scenario Adequacy & Effectiveness, Key Control Management, Surveillance Training, Operating Model Design & Implementation, Defect Remediation, Data Re-ingestion, Market Data Utilisation, and Scenario Calibration.
• Analyse surveillance processes and identify opportunities to improve monitoring, control effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct impact assessments, gap analyses, and business readiness assessments to support implementation of surveillance enhancements.
• Partner with Compliance, Front Office, Operations, Technology, and Risk teams to deliver regulatory and strategic change initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders to define business requirements, validate solutions, and support decision-making.

What we require from the candidate:

• Extensive Business Analysis experience within Financial Services, ideally supporting Trade or Market Surveillance programmes.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, surveillance controls, operating models, and control frameworks.
• Experience working on technology-enabled surveillance remediation and transformation initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technical functions.
