Central Office Technician - On the Road

We are seeking experienced Central Office Technicians to support a large-scale telecommunications initiative focused on the shutdown and decommissioning of central offices. This is a long-term, field-based opportunity, ideal for technicians who enjoy hands-on work, travel, and consistent project-based assignments.

Location: Based in Chicago, IL (Heavy Travel Required)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract (through end of 2028)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $30-$34 per hour (based on experience) + plus $80/day per diem paid every day you're in the field - including weekends

All travel expenses are fully covered by the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Support central office shutdown and decommissioning projects
• Remove and dismantle legacy telecommunications equipment, including telephone switches, racks, and related infrastructure
• Perform hands-on, physical work including lifting, carrying, and equipment removal
• Comply with all job site safety requirements and procedures
• Document completed work and provide progress updates as required
• Travel extensively to project locations as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Experience working in central office or telecommunications environments
• Hands-on experience with legacy telecom equipment (telephone switches, racks, cabling, etc.)
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a basic Excel skills assessment
