Why This Role Exists
This role exists to support Orchid's continued growth in precision medical device manufacturing by strengthening inspection capability, process validation, and quality execution.
The CMM Programmer plays a critical role in ensuring complex orthopedic components meet strict customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards, working closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve issues and continuously improve processes.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Write, maintain, and optimize CMM programs based on customer and internal specifications
- Perform advanced dimensional and visual inspections throughout the production process
- Troubleshoot CMM software and coordinate with external technical support when required
- Support engineering with qualification and validation of new or revised tooling and parts
- Prepare detailed inspection documentation, including deviations and nonconformance reports
- Write, update, and improve quality and inspection procedures
- Identify dimensional, cosmetic, and surface finish defects (scratches, burrs, variances, etc.)
- Communicate quality issues to production teams and assist with root cause and corrective actions
- Train and guide personnel on proper use of inspection and metrology equipment
- Quarantine and manage non-conforming material disposition
- Complete all required inspection records and quality documentation
This role blends hands-on inspection, CMM programming, and cross-functional collaboration.

What We're Looking For
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in quality inspection
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Experience with metrology and inspection tools
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems
Preferred (Not Required):
- 3+ years of experience operating and/or programming CMMs
- Associate's Degree
- Experience in medical device manufacturing
- ISO 9001 experience
