Location: Redditch (Depot-Based with UK Travel)
Salary: £45,000 £55,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience) + Overtime + Enhanced Out of Hours Rates
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established energy solutions provider specialising in temporary and rapid-deployment commercial boiler systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer who is confident working on large-scale plant in a reactive hire environment.
The role is primarily depot-based in Redditch when not attending installations, commissioning, servicing or breakdowns across the UK.
The Role
  • Installation, commissioning and decommissioning of temporary commercial boiler systems (600kW2MW, gas and oil)
  • Servicing and fault finding on commercial plant
  • Reactive breakdown response
  • Working on forced draft burners and associated equipment
  • Fault finding and working with BMS controls
  • Supporting depot preparation and maintenance activities when not on site
  • Ensuring high standards of safety, workmanship and customer service
  • Working collaboratively within a team-focused environment
This is a reactive role rather than planned maintenance. Engineers must be comfortable responding to urgent requirements and adapting to changing priorities.
Requirements
  • Strong commercial background (not domestic-focused)
  • Proven experience working with boiler sizes from 600kW to 2MW (gas/oil)
  • Experience with forced draft burners
  • Working knowledge of BMS systems
  • Experience within the hire industry or a similarly reactive environment is highly desirable
  • Full and clean UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away (typically 12 nights for complex installations)
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional long days and varied weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset
Working Hours & Pay Structure
Monday to Friday
  • Yard-based: 08:0017:00 standard daily pay
  • Site-based: typically leaving home at 07:00 and returning around 18:00 standard daily pay plus 2 additional paid hours
Out of Hours (Monday to Friday)
  • 05:0007:00 and 18:0022:00 hourly rate
  • 22:0005:00 hourly rate
Weekend Working (not on-call but required as needed)
  • 05:0022:00 hourly rate (minimum 8 hours per day)
  • 22:0005:00 hourly rate (minimum 8 hours per day)
