Consultant in Medical Oncology (Sarcoma and Skin Cancer)

The post holder will be responsible for managing patients with sarcoma cancers requiring systemic anti-cancer therapies which will involve MDT attendance, seeing new patients, managing treatment plans and follow up. This role will include a weekly ward round to include all inpatients on the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit at UHW.

Skin Cancers

The post holder will be responsible for managing patients undergoing skin cancer malignancies requiring systemic anti-cancer therapies which will involve MDT attendance, seeing new patients, managing treatment plans and follow up. This role will include a weekly ward round to include all Skin inpatients at VCC.

There will be an option for the successful candidate to consider contributing to regional or local Acute Oncology Service delivery.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • GMC Specialist Register with one of the following:- i. CCT within 6 months of interview ii. CESR iii. European Community Rights
  • Research degree ( MD, PhD or equivalent)
Experience
  • Site specialist interest in medical oncology relevant to Gynaecological cancers and sarcoma at a senior level
  • Experience of MDT decision making.
  • Experience of managing Gynaecological Cancers and Sarcoma at all stages of disease at consultant level.
Skills
  • Team Working
  • Understanding of research methods and prior experience of clinical research trials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate sensitively with patients, relatives and staff
  • Attendance on teaching and/or clinical management course.
Knowledge
  • Site specialist knowledge in medical oncology relevant to Gynaecological cancers and sarcoma
