The Palliative Care team cover 3 areas, Manorlands (Hospice), Community and Airedale Hospital.
SUE RYDER MANORLANDS HOSPICE
Sue Ryder Manorlands is a 14-bedded hospice situated in Oxenhope. A range of inpatient, outpatient and day care services are provide alongside a team of clinical nurse specialists based in the community.
First on-call cover is provided by these staff and specialist registrars in palliative medicine. The provision of medical staff is based on the hospice being a multi professional teaching centre.
COMMUNITY PALLIATIVE CARE TEAM:
Sue Ryder Manorlands Community Palliative Care Team now has 7 clinical nurse specialists, a community services manager and consultant in palliative medicine (6PAs). The team is based at Manorlands.
Based at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, this is a well-established palliative care team consisting of 2.9 WTE clinical nurse specialists, and the consultant in palliative medicine (6PAs). The team has secretarial support and access to a wider MDT when needed.
There is an active oncology service and there are good working relationships with all the surgical and medical specialties.

Main duties of the job1. The principle duties of this post are to:
a. Provide a comprehensive, high quality service to patients with Specialist Palliative Care needs from the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven (AWC) health economy.
The service is provided across hospital, hospice and community settings (in collaboration with the other Consultants and clinicians in Palliative Care)
b. Support clinical teams in primary and secondary care to develop and deliver high quality care to patients approaching the end of life
c. Contribute to the strategic development of palliative and end of life services across the AWC health economy, working closely with the Bradford District and Craven Palliative Care Managed Clinical Network
2. To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor & Good Medical Practice
3. To ensure that patient confidentiality and information governance is maintained at all times.
4. To undertake duties as defined within the job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director and lead clinician for Palliative Medicine.
5. To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.
6. Any other duties necessary for the successful performance of the role, commensurate with the grade.
