We are seeking a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics to support the Department and the Trust in the provision of Elective and Emergency Orthopaedic Surgery with an emphasis on Wrist & Hand Surgery. The appointee will join a team of five Upper Limb Consultants (two Wrist & Hand and three Shoulder Surgeons) and will work within a larger T&O team that includes nineteen consultants offering a range of sub specialty services including lower limb arthroplasty, soft tissue surgery, foot & ankle surgery, spine surgery, hip preservation surgery and paediatric orthopaedics.
There is a trauma on call commitment associated with the post: a third on call 1:16 weekday and weekend basis. The post holder will also contribute to departmental education and training programmes and the clinical governance process. An on call availability supplement of Category A - low frequency (1:9 or less frequent, 3.0 % of full time basic salary) will be provided.
Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees in the UK. All other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register and hold a License to Practise.
