The Opportunity This is a hands-on technical contract role for someone who thrives in high-volume, regulated data landscapes and can hit the ground running with minimal direction.
You will work at the heart of the organisations data infrastructure - designing, building and maintaining integration pipelines that underpin regulatory reporting and critical downstream systems. Your work will directly support compliance obligations across the business.
What you'll Be Doing - Designing and developing robust ETL pipelines using DataStage and related tooling
- Writing and optimising complex SQL across SQL Server and Oracle environments
- Building and maintaining data marts, data models and transformation logic
- Supporting regulatory reporting processes within a banking or capital markets context
- Managing and troubleshooting data quality issues, identifying root causes and delivering pragmatic fixes
- Contributing to platform and tooling decisions, including cloud storage solutions
- Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into engineered solutions
Essential Experience & Skills Technical Expertise - Proven hands-on experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases
- Deep working knowledge of DataStage as an ETL tool
- Strong command of PL/SQL and T-SQL
- Experience with a broad range of ETL and integration tooling - such as SSIS, Alteryx or comparable platforms
- Solid background in data modelling, data mart creation and data transformation
- Familiarity with data quality, security and compliance considerations
Domain Knowledge
- Demonstrable experience supporting regulatory reporting within the banking sector
- Strong understanding of data and integration principles in enterprise settings
Soft Skills
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving ability - comfortable navigating ambiguous, complex data challenges
- Clear, confident communication with both technical colleagues and business stakeholders
- Reliable, well-organised and a collaborative team player
Nice to Have - Exposure to Azure or Databricks cloud platforms
- Experience with AQR reporting for the ECB
- Familiarity with Middleware technologies such as IIB, Kafka or Message Queue
- Postgraduate qualification in Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field
Rate & Engagement £700 per day | Inside IR35
This engagement falls inside IR35. Candidates must be comfortable operating under these terms, whether via an umbrella company or PAYE arrangement.
