Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Architect to support a global consultancy delivering into a public-sector end client. The role will own the strategy, design, and assurance of large-scale clinical data migration from Legacy systems into modern EHR platforms. This is a design authority role, not a hands-on engineering position.
You will define how migration works, the rules it must follow, and ensure outcomes are clinically safe, auditable, and defensible, while engineers deliver against your designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end data migration strategy, scope, sequencing, and success criteria
- Own migration architecture, source-to-target mappings, cleansing, validation, and exception handling
- Decide what data migrates, what is archived, and what is excluded
- Ensure alignment with integration, coexistence, and clinical safety requirements
- Govern cutover, reconciliation, rollback, and migration assurance
- Provide clear, authoritative designs and sign-off for rehearsal and live runs
Essential Experience
- Proven Data Migration Architect experience on large, complex programmes
- Strong background in clinical or regulated data migration
- Experience migrating from Legacy systems
- Knowledge of clinical coding (READ, SNOMED, dm+d) and associated risks
- Confident design authority with senior stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience with UK EHR platforms (eg TPP SystmOne, EMIS)
- Experience in clinically governed, auditable environments
- Phased or dual-running migration models
