Position: Day Service Manager, Disability Service - Cork-based (includes other areas)

Purpose of Role

The Day Service Manager for our Disability service will support and be responsible for the management and effective delivery of Barróg Healthcare Day Services in their assigned area, including development of new services in conjunction with the HSE.

The Day Service Manager will provide direct line management, supervision and leadership for the service in accordance with the service delivery model. They will oversee work as part of a multiagency response (where applicable), in partnership with the parent, family, referral agency and other agencies on behalf of the vulnerable adult to ensure services are proportionate to identified needs and risks. They will plan, implement and evaluate service plans as part of a multiagency response, ensuring written and verbal reporting of individual programmes.

The Day Service Manager will promote a welcoming, safe, caring, stable and supportive environment for clients. They will ensure vulnerable adults are treated with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of unconditional positive regard. They will promote the best interests of vulnerable adults and facilitate their participation in planning and reviewing agreed plans with regard to service support. They will liaise with relevant statutory and voluntary services in carrying out the duties of the role.

Service development will be a key component of this role.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 8-hour days with some flexibility for service needs

Qualifications and Experience
  • Permission to work in Ireland.
  • Appropriate qualification in health or social care management at QQI Level 7 or equivalent
  • Experience in a management or supervisory role in health or disability
  • Proficient ICT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word; familiarity with Outlook)
  • Minimum three years of proven leadership experience
  • Experience in managing a service and people in a fast-paced health/social care environment

Main Duties / Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and management of the staff team, including supervision duties
  • Manage all aspects of community outreach for the service
  • Keep Referral Agents informed on significant matters relating to service delivery
  • Carry out duties as requested by the Regional Manager
  • Ensure high standards of person-centered, effective, safe service delivery and wellbeing for residents and staff
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and policies
  • Manage client files and maintain a case management structure; complete risk assessments, safety plans and care plans as required
  • Establish and maintain a safe, welcoming environment
  • Work with clients with trust and respect; handle difficult situations sensitively within organisational policies
  • Consult and involve clients in project operations
  • Provide support for staff teams and on-call escalation
  • Maintain positive relationships with external agencies and the local community
  • Carry out administrative and financial procedures per policies
